1. What is your lifelong sorrow?

Ooohhh... ok this is hard. You know, it's probably being short. 😔 Yup, lets go with that.

2. Which would you rather be if you had the choice: divinely beautiful, dazzlingly clever, or angelically good?

OOOOOO I LOVE THIS PART OF THE BOOK!!!!!! Hmm...probably dazzlingly clever.

3. Do things ever give you a thrill?

ooohhh yeah. Totally. Have you met me?? 😉 I feel like anything and everything could give me a thrill.

4. Fill in the Blank: "No, it's not exactly my name, but I'd love to be called ---"

Hmm this is hard. I like my name. Maybe Nelle? (Ellen backwards)

5. Were you ever in the depths of despair?

Sadly, many times. It mostly happens in the moment tho, so not long periods of time. One was shortly after my grandpa passed away.

6. Do you ever imagine things different from what they really are?

Oh yes, all the time. #nuffsaid

7. Who is your bosom friend?

Probably my sister. 😉

8. Do you have any imaginary friends? If so, what are their names?

Ok, weird story time. So when I was little I had like four 'friends' based on the Boxcar Children Series books. I used to talk to them nonstop and have little conspiracies with them. End of weird story. I still talk to myself sometimes 🙈 and I talk to my Calico Critters when I play with them. So yes, I have tons of imaginary friends😊

9. Would you rather look ridiculous when everybody else does or plain and sensible by yourself?

Oh totally looking ridiculous with everyone else. Plain and sensible is never fun😜

10. Do you ever find yourself imagining your hair away?

Um... not really. I mean, when I was little I think I wanted blonde hair...but I like my hair so...👍

1. What is your favorite type of post to write?

Hmm......post?? Probably just random updates, just 'cause that's all I post anymore!! 😝

2. When did you start writing?

Uhh......wow. A long time ago.....like probably when I was five, ten years ago. I still have my first story I wrote *face palm* Talk about overkill (literally).

3. What is one piece of advice you'd like to give to new bloggers?

Go for it!!! Blog about what you're passionate about, not what others want of you. Put your heart into it, make it natural, and have fun. 😊

4. Do you prefer Microsoft Word or Google Docs?

Well, I've never used Microsoft Word so.....#techsavvyNOT Google docs!!

5. What member of the Fellowship of the Ring can you relate to the most?

Pipin

6. How are you pursuing your dreams right now?

Qualifying for the NCFCA Speech and Debate National Championship, babysitting, and living life with a zest for funness. 😉

7. What is the hardest part of being a writer?

When you can't get your brain to DO anything, THINK anything, or even form a thought. #theworst

8. What is your favorite hot drink?

Well, I don't really drink any hot drinks.....never liked tea, DO NOT like coffee, and hot chocolate is a bit sweet for this girl so.......probably apple cider.

9. How do you come up with your story ideas?

Honestly, I just write whenever I get inspired. I just write a snippet whenever something inspires me and then come back to it if I'm looking for a writing project. Consequently, I have about a hundred story snippets lying around, just waiting to become beautiful novels. #lol

10. Which do you prefer, ebooks or paperbacks?

Paperbacks

11. What is one book that has made you cry?

I don't think I've ever cried in a book. Movies are a different thing, but books I don't really get as worked up about.

2. How many stories have you written? Oh girl, I can't even count!! There are about 7 that agree active.....as of right now

3. Do you play a musical instrument? Yes, I play the piano and the violin

5. Do you prefer hot or cold weather? Hmmm......BOTH

6. Who is/are your favorite character/characters (book or movie) of all time? Ok, Han and Leia from the movie(s) Star Wars and Marcus and Cottia from Eagle of the Ninth
7. Do you usually type your stories or hand write them? Type. My handwriting is HORRIBLE

8. Do you prefer to wear dresses or skirts? Dresses

9. What is the first story you have written? Haha, it was about a girl and a bunny and her whole family died and then she died and the bunny was alone at the end. #sadstory

10. If you could choose the last meal you would eat, what would it be? Gracious, are we dying?!?!?!?!? It'd probably be spaghetti......

11. What/who inspires you the most? Hmm....great question. Definitely the book Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, and then probably just anything that hits my soft spot 😉

Destination: Nationals

As most of you know, I love to write. They are sort of bad, inconsistent, and weird stories, but I love to write. I have recently been working on a story I call Destination: Nationals, My NCFCA Diary (my thoughts about speech and debate tournaments). It's more me fuming about my frustrations, rounds, and interactions; it's just a way for me to get my words out. I never even dreamed about qualifying for Nationals until I was a senior, three years in the future. I wanted this book to be about perseverance, sticking with competition and finally, some rewards. Nationals was one of my "what you want to be when you grow up" goals. It was on my bucket list, one of my life dreams, and something I would always strive for. Well, ladies and gentleman, I qualified for the NCFCA National Championship yesterday at the Regional tournament. I still can't believe it. I was so overwhelmed at the time, I started crying. I honestly don't remember much about what happened. I was so thankful. Thankful for God's grace and the opportunities He has blessed me with, my family and the endless support and love they've given to me, and my speech coach and all of the times she's worked with me. I am pumped for NATS and can't WAIT to compete!!!

These kids. So talented, so skilled, so awesome.

Oh my goodness. I honestly believe that I was tagged to do this in July?? Oh my. *goes to hide in a hole* I am so sorry!!!!! Anyway, here I am!!!! You should be grateful. ;-)

I've never moved before
I have at least 50 toys that I play with regularly (Calico Critters®)

I can play the piano upside down
I am a kid at heart (just ask my friends)
I have a soft spot for black hair (Not that I'm biased or anything.....:-})
I am in possession of all six Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies and love them to death

What are your four favoritest things you have? Uhhh......My pillow, my iPad, My book collection, and........my brain?? Ok, seriously, maybe my toys........yup, definitely my toys.
What do you prefer? Sweet or salty?? Salty. If something is too sweet, I can't take it.
What is your least favorite color? Least?? Uhh......no offense, people, but probably hot pink or greeny-yellow.

What musical instrument do you like to here play a song the best? Either the cello or piano

What is your hobbie? Umm.......taking pictures of my aforementioned Calico Critters, playing piano and violin, and singing Disney songs. ;-)
Do you play any sports? No. I tried soccer when I was 5. That didn't work. I actually like to play volleyball though.
What is your typical outfit? Shorts and a T-shirt in the summer, jeans and a T-shirt in the winter.

If you could spend a day with anyone from the Bible, who would it be? Oooo....good question. Well, besides Jesus (obviously), I'd probably go with Paul or Abraham.
Would you rather live in Lothlorien or Rivendell? Hmmm.......Rivendell. I mean, Lothlorien is AMAZING but Galadriel?? I mean, who agrees with me when I say she's kind of creepy....????
You get to be President for a day. What do you do first? Ooohh.......nice question. Well, I guess I'd start by trying to get the U.S. into a Christian Nation again.
If you could change your name, what would you change it to? Nelle (Ellen backwards), or Reyanna.......or Jacqulynn, or Gracelyn, or Llanna, or Brecken, or Talia, or Eva........(can you tell I like names??)
What’s your dream pet? A horse. Or a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy.

Hey guys!!!
I got tagged by my sweet friend Hanna (read her post here), to do The Birthstone Book Tag. You basically answer these questions about books that you've read and it's super fun!!! So, without further ado, here goes!!!

1. January Garnet: Name a character you think is evil/dark:

Uhh.........I have a lot there, girl. Sauron from The Lord of the Rings, The White Witch from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Monks and Fagin from Oliver Twist are the ones that come to mind at the moment. (Great, now I'm creeped out. Did this have to be the first question??)

2. February Amethyst: Name a book you think of as regal:

(Pardon me as I look up 'regal' in the dictionary)

Uhh.......wow. Umm..........I've always thought that Little Women could be a book that I'd read to a queen or princess but I also think Pride and Prejudice when I hear the word royal, so....yeah. I don't know.

3. March Aquamarine: Name a character that you think of as weak, or more of a follower:

Well.......for more of a follower I'd say Violet from The Boxcar Children.

4. April Diamond: Name a book you love, but isn't very well known:

My friend Savannah's Sleeping Beauty story. It's awesome, guys. Oh shoot, does it have to be published?? Well, if it does, then The Growly Series by Philip and Erin Ulrich. Love those books!!! Oh yeah, and The Roman Briton Trilogy by Rosemary Sutcliff.

5. May Emerald: Name two characters that balance each other out well:

Merry and Pippin form the Lord of the Rings. And just for the fun of it: Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit, Growly and Chippy form the Growly Series, Beth and Jo from Little Women, Emma and Mr. Knightley from Emma, Marcus and Cottia from Eagle of the Ninth, Wilbur and Charlotte from Charlotte's Web, Jason and Andy from The Farm Mystery Series, and Thacia and Daniel from The Bronze Bow. ;-) #goingoverboardisfun

Lad from Lad A Dog. If that's not loyal, I don't know what is. Also, Sam from Trumpet and the Swan and Anne from Anne of Avonlea.

Uhh........(do people really get that angry over books??) Well, I guess when I read Stuart Little and it ended I was super mad because it did not end like I thought it should (seriously, go read the ending. It's bad).

8. August Peridot: Name a supporting character you preferred to the main character:

Malthace in The Bronze Bow and Whisper and Flurry in the Growly Series.

9. September Sapphire: Name a book you found to be calming:

Calming?? Uhh.......maybe The Hobbit, or Charlotte's Web, or Oh, the Places You'll Go, or any kids book, really. :-) #fanofkidsliterature

10. October Opal: Name a book with a pretty cover:

Oh my.

(Pardon me while I look up 'resilient' and 'protagonist'. Good grief, I need to study vocabulary words) Ok, um.....Frodo Baggins form The Lord of the Rings. I mean, he almost died. Ok, Aragorn, Gandalf, Sam, Merry, and Bilbo would qualify too then, I guess. And Marcus from Eagle of the Ninth. And Alexios from Frontier Wolf. My, my, when you know what fancy words mean it's like a whole new world!!!!

12. December Blue Zicron: Name a fictional friendship you would love to be a part of:

The Trio in Morning from The Growly Series, The Fellowship from The Lord of the Rings, and Anne, Stella, Pricilla, and Philipa from Anne of the Island.
