Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!

If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my heavenly Father to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
-Lyrics by Lee Greenwood

Today is a very special day because it has been 2 years since I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior through baptism!  On May 25, 2013 my Dad baptized me.  That was the most important decision that I will ever make; to follow Christ and to serve Him for the rest of my life.  I thought it was so cool that this special day happened to be on Memorial Day this year!  What a coincidental convenience! :-)
"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
                                                                                -Acts 2:38

  2. Ellen,
What a beautiful tribute to your country and your salvation. It made me cry, tears of happiness for your willingness to share your faith in such a special way. "God Bless the USA" is one of my favorite songs and a wonderful tribute to the freedom we have in this country.
    Love,
    Grandma and Grandpa
